Tanzanians offered employment abroad now to be approved by Taesa

Dodoma. The government has reiterated that all Tanzanians offered employment abroad must pass through the Tanzania Employment Services Agency (Taesa).

This was said by deputy minister in the Prime Minister's Office (Policy, Parliamentary Affairs, Labour, Employment, Youth and Disabled) Anthony Mavunde, when he was responding to Special Seats MP Ritta Kabati (CCM), who wanted to know the government’s efforts to safeguard and monitor the welfare of Tanzanians, who worked outside the country.

However, in her basic question, Ms Kabati wanted to know measures taken by the government to protect the welfare of house workers in the country.

In his response, Mr Mavunde said being a member of the International Labour Organisation (ILO), Tanzania was obliged to comply with international agreements on house workers.

"In cooperation with stakeholders from both the public and private sectors, the government will continue taking various measures to ensure all workers in the country are treated professionally by their employers.
