Ex-TBC chief Tido set to face cross-examination in Sh887.1 million case

Dar es Salaam. The case facing the former director general of Tanzania Broadcasting Corporation (TBC), Mr Tido Mhando, has been set for hearing on Tuesday, October 16, this year.

Mr Mhando is expected to stand in court to respond to questions related to what he put forth as his defence when testifying on September 20 at the Kisutu Resident Magirate’s Court in Dar es Salaam.

The ex-TBC boss is facing four counts including abuse of office and occasioning a loss of Sh887.1 million to the government. He presented his defence against the allegations on September 20 this year, led by his lawyers Ramadhani Maleta and Martin Matunda.

Mr Mhando has since told the Kisutu Resident Magistrate’s Court that the fourth government, under President Jakaya Kikwete, brought him back to the country to assume the top management office at TBC.

He said after serving the media industry for 50 years, he was experienced enough to lead the state-owned media firm and help it acquire global recognition due to its efficiency and economic achievements.
