Dodoma. Agriculture minister Dr Charles Tizeba said on Wednesday that the drop of cotton price in the current buying season was caused by deducting Sh100 to pay for pestcides used by farmers.
The cotton buying season was launched early this May with cotton price dropping from Sh1,200 per kilogramme previously to Sh1,100.
Two MPs - Richard Ndassa (Sumve-CCM) and Mashimba Ndaki (Maswa West-CCM) - announced to decline the budget for the cotton price drop.
"MPs cried that cotton farmers had no pesticides and we sent 700 tonnes. Now, this Sh100 is going to pay for the pestcides," said Dr Tizeba
