Arusha. The Trade Unions Congress of Tanzania (Tucta) has expressed its disappointment over the statement by the government spokesman, Dr Hassan Abbas, linking it to political movements.

Addressing a press conference here today October 19, Tucta leaders urged the public to ignore the statement and focus on genuine claims which the organization has been pressing.

Tucta leaders insisted that their demands to the government were genuine and they were nor politically motivated.

They insisted that if the government wants the demands and claim by workers to go away, the only solution was to settle them.

"Our claims are genuine… we usually research deeply before demanding for anything. We are waiting for quick implementation so as to bring relief to workers in the country," he said.

Tucta President, Tumaini Nyamhokya said the organization recognizes true commitment by President John Magufuli to address various challenges facing workers in the country and that they did not want to engage in any debate with the government other than working together to resolve the problems.

"There are outstanding pay claims from the government from 2013 to 2015 as what paid was merely part of the 2016/17 claims," he said.
