Two Chinese robbed of properties

Singida. Chinese nationals Yao Kebin and Hua Yang, both employees of CCCE Company, have been robbed of their properties.

Yao lost his Prado Toyota Land Cruiser worth over Sh40 million, a gun, 16 rounds of ammunition, three mobile phones worth Sh3.8 million, Ugandan Sh126,000, Yuan 4,000 (Sh1.36 million and $300.

Singida Regional Police Commander Debora Magiligimba said the incident occurred on Wednesday at about 1.30 am on Jovena Street in Singida Municipality.

She said the vehicle was recovered at Veta. The gun, 16 bullets and three Chinese mobile phones were found inside the abandoned vehicle.

Ms Magiligimba said an initial police investigation had revealed that unidentified people jumped over the wall that surrounded the house in which the Chinese were living, broke a padlock and a door using a piece of a metal rod and entered into the building to steal.

Police are holding a CCCE driver and a Singida resident for questioning.

“Once the investigation is complete, the suspects will be taken to court,” she said.
