The Kagera Regional Commissioner, Major (rtd) Salum Kijuu, last week issued a one-month ultimatum to fishing communities to register themselves and their fishing vessels with the Fisheries Department.

The Kagera regional acting principal fisheries officer, Mr Gabriel Magenyi, explained that the search for illegal fishermen through confiscation of fishing gear had not helped curb the challenge. (Geofrey Kimani)
