More than 200 SMEs in the Lake Zone region have benefited from the training on entrepreneurship skills conducted by the Commercial Bank of Africa (CBA). The CBA head of Retail Banking, Mr David Shambwe, told journalists in Mwanza yesterday that training was aimed at equipping SMEs with necessary skills to manage their businesses and finances.
He said the focus was on educating entrepreneurs on the importance of bookkeeping and as well as insurance to their business and assets.
“The SMEs were also trained on the importance of business registration, the use of financial institutions in grooming their businesses and the relationship between a family and business,” he noted during the seminar early this week.
Mr Shwambwe said it was a high time that entrepreneurs learnt the importance of using banks in depositing and saving their money than keeping cash in their homes.
He also underscored the importance of getting documents relating to assets and other properties since they were essential in accessing banking services including loans. Currently, CBA has three branches in Tanzania, located in Dar-es-Salaam, Mbeya and Mwanza regions.
