We were lucky to have good teachers  Send to a friend

When I was in primary school at Pongwe in Tanga Region, we had some very good teachers who were keen on football and could play the game well.

There was Pius Maendikwe, from Musoma, who also gave us lessons based on the Kiswahili book entitled Nyayo za Mwendo wa Binadamu, Idi Rajabu from Lushoto, and an English language teacher, a Mr Kishimba, who was from Kilimanjaro Region. He also taught us history and science.

I remember Rajabu as a good Muslim, who always went to the mosque. We knew that we had to follow his example if we hoped to become good Muslims ourselves.

Makatta Omari,
Tanga.
