That the Civic United Front (CUF) still regards itself as a strong opposition party is a big joke.CUF and CCM are to all intents and purposes one and the same thing, and it is no surprise that the two parties have ganged up to block Chadema from becoming the sole party forming the Official Opposition in Parliament.

CUF has in recent months been at pains to portray itself as a vibrant opposition party, but Tanzanians are not fools.
It’s teaming up with CCM to form a coalition government in Zanzibar has effectively lowered its standing as an opposition party worth the name.  

This is a fact that CUF leaders, members and supporters should accept.CUF cannot run away from the fact that it is stuck with CCM for the next five years both in Tanzania Mainland and Zanzibar.  Tanzanians, including CUF members, know which the real opposition party is.
