JK’s Cabinet should emulate Magufuli  Send to a friend

The minister for Works, Dr John Pombe Magufuli, has once again proven why he is s key member of President Jakaya Kikwete’s Cabinet.

It is the likes of this indefatigable and incorruptible minister who will secure President Kikwete’s legacy.
Since his appointment to the docket last November, Dr Magufuli has embarked on what is essentially a one-man crusade to clean up the road construction sector.

This sector stinks to high heaven insofar as grand corruption is concerned, and if there is one person who has the ability and commitment to stop the rot it is Dr Magufuli.  It was not by accident that President Kikwete picked Dr Magufuli to take charge of the Works docket.

Instead of issuing directives from the comfort of his opulent office in Dar es Salaam, Dr Magufuli has opted hit the road on a countrywide tour to inspect works projects.  For the past month or so, Dr Magufuli has been touring dusty road construction sites to get a first-hand account of what is actually taking place on the ground.

Needless to say, the minister has discovered shocking levels of corruption and poor workmanship in various road projects and taken appropriate remedial measures.

I am sure complaints about the performance of President Kikwete’s government will turn into praise in the next five years if other ministers follow Dr Magufuli’s example.

Sadik Mwakitubu,
Arusha.
