Bodabodas’ a grave danger to all and sundry  Send to a friend
Thursday, 09 February 2012 21:32

I fully agree with the reader who recently pleaded with the government to ban motorcycle taxis, popularly known as bodabodas. Bodabodas now pose the gravest risk on Dar es Salaam roads going by the number of people they kill and maim daily.

I was once hit by a bodaboda while walking along a pedestrian lane, but, luckily, I escaped with only a few scratches. The government may have had a good intention when it allowed motorcycles to carry passengers, but the flip side is that this has introduced another façade to the road safety headache. The number of victims from accidents involving bodabodas is such that hospitals can hardly cope.
S.S. Michael,
Dar es Salaam.
