Bombings point to regional security threat  Send to a friend

The Kampala bomb blasts blamed on the al Shabaab terror group were barbaric and cowardly. This incident should be condemned by all the peace-loving citizens of East Africa and the world. The Somalia-based terrorists should be made to pay heavily for this inhuman and unfortunate act.

Uganda must not be cowered by these desperate attempts of insensitive warlords hell-bent on causing havoc and human suffering. Security missions into Somalia need to be beefed up to contain the spiralling terrorist activities. The concerned authorities must act swiftly and jointly to contain the marauding militia before they get out of hand.

East African states need to marshal their military and security resources to curb the rising insecurity in the region. The security of the region should be given the utmost priority it deserves.

Tonui Japhet,
Eldoret, Kenya.
