Dirty water putting our lives in danger  Send to a friend

Normally when there is a prolonged water disconnection, the water that comes out of the pipes thereafter is dirty and full of impurities.

That was my observation of what happens here in Sinza Madukani, Vatican City, Mugabe, Namnani and in most other parts of the city. Dawasco management must explain why this negligence which poses great risks to our lives.

Failure to urgently attend to the problem will lead to serious eruption of communicable diseases such as cholera, typhoid fever and the rest. Dawasco must give this problem their most urgent attention.

It is said that some unscrupulous people take advantage of Dawasco’s sloppiness and laissez faire attitude and empty their septic tanks onto the streets when it rains, interfering with Dawasco’s water distribution system and allowing dirty water from their wash basins and latrines to permeate into Dawasco’s broken pipes.

We hold Dawasco accountable for such action because they are the authority charged with the management of water distribution in the city.  Who else should we hold responsible?

Dawasco should track down and have these people arrested.

I call upon Dawasco to look for alternative ways of solving this chronic problem in most parts of Dar es Salaam. Without concerted efforts epidemic diseases are likely to become endemic in areas such as Sinza, Kijitonyama, Manzese and many other places.

Happiness Ndyamukama,
Sinza, Dar es Salaam.
