Wizkid’s Nike T-shirts sell out in minutes

The partnership between Nike and Nigerian superstar Wizkid has proven profitable after the ‘Starboy’ branded t-shirt sold out in 10 minutes.

The first of its kind between a Nigerian entertainer and a sports brand, the special edition ‘Starboy’ soccer jersey which was released on September 10th, at selected stores was sold out by 8am.

“That was fast! Sold out in 10 minutes! Love u all like crazy! God working harder than Satan!” Wizkid posted.

With his signature ‘Starboy’ written in the front and ‘Surulere’ where Wizkid was born and raised written behind, the t-shirt was retailing at £64.95.

According to Nike, the ‘2018 Wizkid Co-Creation Stadium Shirt’ is a celebration of the megastar’s Nigerian roots with the green and white trimmings representing the Nigerian flag.

“To create this Nike exclusive shirt, we teamed up with Nigerian pop sensation, Wizkid. Emblazoned with the logo of his own personal label, Starboy, Wizkid celebrates his story in bold design and subtle decoration.

“The colours of Nigeria proudly embellish the sleeves and the name of his starting place and hometown, Surulere, shines on the reverse. The shirt is finished with a centrally placed Nike Swoosh, complementing his iconic Starboy graphic below,” a statement from Nike read.

The Soco hit maker has been showing a keen interest in fashion of late having made his runway debut for Dolce&Gabbana alongside supermodel Neomi Campbell.
