Some men only good for fun  Send to a friend

Not everyone you go out with is good for marriage. Here are men that you should never consider for keeps. Christine Chacha elaborates.

You must have heard of a couple’s marriage that broke when the flowers were still fresh.
The explanation often centre on “He has changed. He is just not the same guy I married.”

My buddy says that some relationships are meant to last. So what are the telltale signs of men you shouldn’t ever consider for the marital bed?

Andrew, the achiever
He is the man your mum always wanted you to marry. He is responsible, attractive, successful and definitely intelligent. His problem is that, he is married either to his career, sport, hobby or even some family responsibilities.

The global grandeur of his more time-consuming passions is like a mistress that scorns at you. When he is at work he totally forgets about you. Your love for each other is a grain of sand compared to his commitments.

How to date him: Observe his focus and where he places his priorities and make them your own. But unless you want to end up in a mansion alone, run for the hills when he dishes out that engagement ring.

Time bomb Tom
He is your classic unstable personality hidden beneath a normal veneer. If you knew his true personality you wouldn’t even go near him.

These guys have cute Chris Brown-like faces only turn out to be physical abusers, alcoholics, gamblers, drug abusers and just plain crazies.

He will entice you with his charm and just when you fall for him, his true self-surfaces like an explosion.
By this time, he will not just raise his voice when you argue, he will beat the hell out of you. He will not just cheat on you, but he will run off with your sister/best friend when you are eight months pregnant.

How to date him:
It is easy to get tangled as he will apologise when he first explodes, but this does not mean it will not happen again. Keep your eyes and ears open, study him like a specimen and note any signs of explosive behaviour. Could be he’s rude to cashiers or waiters, or gets seriously worked up and hits the wall.

Ben the boss
Ben is your typical male chauvinist, who thinks women are lesser beings. He will not put it outright but he often makes demeaning remarks towards women. Be warned a man who talks ill of women will also treat you in the same way. You are no exception just because you are his woman.

He is a natural critic and speaks only from his own perfection. He knows how you should dress, put on your makeup on, even brush your teeth, and as long as you agree, he's happy. He will even direct your career. With him, you won't have a partner you'll have a dictator.

How to date him: Go into the relationship headstrong. Do not get sucked in by making any changes for him. If he keeps insisting, chances are, he will not change so dump him before the proposal.

Sam slacker
You invited him to your place and before long he moved in. He's always broke and hungry. He's lazy and finds excuses not to work, but has no problem mooching off your hard-earned income.

He never brings you anything or takes you anywhere. His advantage is that he is tender and delicate with his lovemaking, almost worshipful, a wellspring of foreplay and fills your life.
How to date him: Never invite him to your place and if you do, make use of him since he's helpful around the house. He may be charming, but you'll soon catch on that he's in the relationship for his benefit and you aren't getting much out of it.

Skirty Steve
He will not miss a chance to check out other women even when you are with him. This shows he will never be satisfied with just one woman.

He may accuse you of being jealous or possessive; when the reality is...he's the one with a problem. He has no respect and his wandering eye won't be cured with marriage.
How to date him: Know his type of women and try to emulate them; dress to kill and always look your best. Make sure you always have his attention if not at least of other men. The probability of him cheating is massive, and contrary to belief, he will not be tamed. So unless you want a cheater, leave this one alone.
