The entertainment industry is one of the fastest growing in Tanzania and as a result it is providing alternative but indirect employment to thousands of youth. The gains that have been made in this sphere cannot be undermined by any means; however, there is a bug that is eating into our entertainment, use of foul language! As many of the young men get the temptation of singing songs with romantic themes so do they cross the thin boundaries between obscenity and romance. There are some songs which to be sincere you can hardly listen to them in the presence of your little sisters or brothers, let alone children! However, as we mull of the obscenity, the question that remains unanswered is, who is responsible for content management and therefore who is to blame under the circumstances? Equally one would ask why such content should continue playing on radio during prime time. It is our hope that the authorities concerned will do something in the near future to curb this virus. |
