Dar es Salaam. With two weeks remaining to the annual Sauti Za Busara music festivals organisers have announced a complete line-up for the four-day extravaganza which is scheduled to kick off on February 9. Speaking this week at the launch of the season in Dar es Salaam, the assistant festival director Rosie Carter said they were looking forward to four great nights filled with explosive African entertainment. “The festival line-up includes an array of African music stars from East Africa as well as Nigeria, Sudan, Cape Verde, South Africa, Congo Brazzaville and many others,” she said. According to Carter over 500 entries from different groups were received but only 31 were selected to perform at the 9th edition of the festival which is usually held at Zanzibar’s Stone Town. “These came from all over Africa, which meant that our selection committee had to go through a serious vetting procedure sifting through piles of CDs,” According to her of the selected groups 50 per cent of the slots went to Tanzanian groups and the rest went to the rest of Africa. |
