This week the Tanzania Kilimanjaro music awards finally rolled out the names of the nominees after the academy’s two day vetting process.

And gauging by the list of names on the nomination list there is every indication that they were a committed lot.
According to organisers, the eventual winners will be go through our age old adversary, voting, a process which kicks off next week and is slated to last for several weeks. Votes will be cast through SMS, mail and cuttings from newspapers.

But as past experience shows most of us hate voting and yet it is the same lot that is always quick to raise complaints accusing organisers of adulterating results.
Meanwhile in the Isles, the Sauti za Busara festival is rocking Stone Town, Zanzibar and from what our crew have gathered it is a hot affair in a celebration of Africa’s cultural splendour.

At the Beat we wish you a happy voting process in the same breath as we wish those who have travelled to Zanzibar a  great weekend as they sample some of Africa’s best entertainment.
