Tanzania has been advised to seriously embrace Public Private Partnership (PPP) as a way of attaining fast and sustainable development. The call has been made by the Finnish Ambassador to Tanzania Ms Sinikka Antila when visiting various donors funded projects in Kilombero district, Morogoro region recently.

“Public Private Partnership arrangement will help Tanzania attain its development agenda quickly,” she said.

“I advise Tanzania to emulate Finland on the need to create a working relationship between the public and private sectors especially in infrastructure development,” she said.

Giving an example, she said the ferry at Kilombero River which is small and unreliable one affects businesses and other economic activities; a challenge she said could be tackled by the government working with private sector.

At kilombero district, Ms. Sinikka got an opportunity to hear from various groups of people who told her how the transport challenge across the river affects businesses especially to ferry agricultural products from Ulanga district.

She promised to contact various stakeholders and see how the problem could be solved during her tenure as ambassador in Tanzania.

“Let me see how I can help on solving this problem, but the best way could be buying a new ferry,” she said.
