By Paskal Mbunga, Tanga A veteran member and a CCM Ward Chairman of Central area in Tanga city, Hamis Kilua, 70, collapsed in his office and died soon after on Friday afternoon. Mr Kilua died in his office while reading a newspaper, according to one of his close friends, Mr Mohamed Jumaa. “He was reading a newspaper inside the CCM ward office while waiting for his fellow CCM members who were going for house to house campaign in the area,” said Mr Jumaa. Mr Jumaa, popularly known as Bonge, explained that the late Kilua had earlier showed no sign of illness, and was well and fit for the exercise, though he was fasting. “He collapsed abruptly and fell down from a chair and died before we had time to send him to Bombo regional hospiotal for treatment,” he said. Narrated Mr Jumaa who is a ten-cell leader in the Central ward and a member in the campaign team. He added that the late chairman was also among members in the campaign team going round the ward influencing members and the public to vote for the ruling party. Funeral arrangements were being made at his residential house at Makorora and he was expecte to be buried yesterday at his home village in Lushoto district. |
