Tanzanians have been cautioned not to embrace politicians who use abusive language in the campaigns. This was said here late last week by Mr Muhidin Kimario, a participant in the country’s independence struggle, who said voters must reject candidates who avoid to discuss policies of their parties and instead dwell on non issues including discussing personal scandals of their rivals.

Mr Kimario, popularly known as ‘Commander Mbogo,’ a former Moshi Urban MP and minister for Defence, said people should avoid such politicians at all cost.

Mr Kimario, who had also served as regional commissioner in several regions in the country,
said he has heard politicians’ use of vulgar language in the ongoing campaigns.

He said there are politicians who avoid discussing party policies and dedicate more time to
attacking their opponents. He urged political parties to inform the people of their policies
that will be implemented to bring development to their constituencies. However, he congratulated political parties which have prepared well for the October General Election.

“I believe this election will be very competitive,” he said. “Although I am a CCM cadre, I
would also like to hear policies of other parties.

But I want to warn CCM members not to be complacent because the opposition camp also has good policies and is well prepared,” he said.

“For these reasons, it is very hard to predict who will win my former Moshi Urban seat between CCM and Chadema,” he said.
