Full implementation of the National Anti-Corruption Strategic Action Plan (NACSAP) would help reduce public discontent over corruption in public service delivery, it has been said. The Dodoma regional commissioner, Dr James Msekela, expressed this optimism at a two-day workshop for officers from the police force, Immigration and Prison departments as well as the fire and rescue brigade. Opening the workshop on his behalf on Monday, the Bahi district commissioner, Mrs Betty Mkwasa, said the government would continue to assist sectoral ethics committees so that they champion the anti-corruption war at work places. Dr Msekela called for frequent follow-ups to check the efficiency of ethics committees in implementing their responsibilities according to laid down procedures and regulations. For her part, the Dodoma regional PCCB chief, Ms Eunice Mmari, said among other things the NACSAP second phase will involve provision of anti corruption education campaigns at the grass roots. She underscored the importance of anti-corruption education, particularly during the forthcoming October general elections. This would help voters reject corrupt leaders or not vote under the influence of bribery. The aim of the PCCB workshop was to build the capacity of ethics committees from the departments so that they understand the prevention and combating of corruption under the Anti Corruption Act.
