The appointment of a new head of the Police traffic unit is among several changes that have been made by Inspector General of Police (IGP) Said Mwema. He has appointed Assistant Commissioner of Police Mohammed Mpinga as the unit’s new head, taking over from Senior Assistant Commissioner of Police (SACP) James Kombe who has gone on retirement. A statement issued yesterday by the spokesman of the Police Force, ACP Abdallah Mssika, said IGP Mwema has also made several changes in various departments of the Police Force. The head of the traffic unit in Coast Region, Mr Johansen Kahatano, replaces ACP Mpinga who beforehand was a senior officer in the traffic unit. IGP Mwema has also appointed Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Advera Senso, the Force’s deputy spokesman to replace Superintendent Suzan Kaganda. The latter has been transferred to the Dar es Salaam special police zone as an assistant in the operations department. Others affected by the changes include a senior official from Tanga Region, ACP Simon Mgawe, who has been transferred to the Police headquarters. The head of the traffic unit in Kigoma Region, SSP Salehe Mbaga, has been transferred to Coast Region in a similar position. Commander Mssika also said Superintendent Adolphina Kapufi from the Railway Police unit has been transferred to Tanga and will be replaced by SP Sebastian Mbutta from Singida. A lecturer at the Police College in Moshi, SP Robert Masanja, has been appointed the Songea officer commanding district to replace ASP Marco Joshua who has been transferred to the Ruvuma regional police commander’s office, the statement said. |
