By Venance George The Citizen Correspondent Morogoro. The deputy minister for Health and Social Welfare, Dr Lucy Nkya, says she does not agree with the resolution of dividing the Morogoro South East constituency.Morogoro regional leaders want part of the constituency to be part of the Morogoro Municipal Council (MMC) under its expansion plans.
They therefore resolved to ask for approval from relevant authorities for the move. The process to carve some areas of Morogoro, Mvomero and Kilosa districts in order to expand the MMC has been on hold for sometime now.
But speaking during the Morogoro District Consultative Council (MDCC) meeting recently, Dr Nkya was categorical that she, as the people’s representative, did not support it. She was elected MP for the area during the October 2010 General Election. “Honourable chairman, I would like to propose that the MMC and Morogoro District Council (MDC) meet to discuss this issue further. I do not agree with what has been proposed and I am ready to oppose this issue all the way to the President, if need be,” she declared.Dr Nkya said she was opposed to the idea of carving Morogoro South East constituency because there were many areas to where the MMC could extend.
