The Chama cha Demokrasia na Maendeleo (Chadema) in Morogoro region has embarked on a house to house campaign in a bid to reach out to many voters ahead of the October 31 General Election. This tactic aim at reaching out to people who were not able to attend campaign rallies like disabled and the sick, according to Chadema candidate for Morogoro Urban parliamentary seat, Mr Amani Mwaipaja. “This new system of visiting each house targets at meeting potential voters who are not able to attend public rallies like elders, disabled people and those who are sick,” he said noting that even these people need to hear party plans to address their problems. He appealed to residents of Tungi ward to elect Chadema candidates in all councillorship posts and him as their MP, so that they could cooperate to solve their many problems, especially water shortage. The Chadema campaign coordinator in Morogoro region, Mr Chediel Senzige, said they have planned to conduct civilised campaigns. “If we are in public rallies, or if we decide to visit people in their houses, we will not embark on derogatory campaigns. We want to show people that we are not looking for these posts for personal gains but due to our commitment to solve their problems,” he said. The residents of the Tungi ward, congratulated the candidate and his party for conducted well-mannered campaigns despite the mounting competition. They told the team of Chadema leaders that they are facing a lot of problems including poor infrastructure and unreliable water services. |
