Dar es Salaam. . The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has named Egyptian Farouk Mohamed referee of next month’s match between the national soccer team, Taifa Stars and Mozambique’s Black Mambas. Tanzania Football Federation (TFF) information officer, Boniface Wambura revealed yesterday that Mohamed will be assisted by compatriots Ayman Degaish and B.T Abo El Sadat. “Match commissioner will be Loed Mc Ian from South Africa,” said Wambura. The return leg will take place in Maputo in September. Psychologically, Black Mambas have an edge over Taifa Stars. They have won three of their last six matches against Jan Poulsen team. Taifa Stars, whose first ever appearance at the Africa Cup of Nations finals dates back to 1980 in Nigeria, have beaten Mozambique twice while one match ended in a barren draw. The two teams last met in a friendly match in April last year in Maputo where the hosts won 2-0.(By Majuto Omary) |
