Dar es Salaam. Pugilist Syndicate of Tanzania (PST) has slapped an indefinite suspension on its vice president, Agapeter Mnazareth for alleged misconduct.

The boxing body claims that Tanzanian boxer Karama Nyilawila relinquished his World Boxing Federation (WBF) Middleweight belt begrudgingly following an advice by Mnazareth.

“We’ve suspended him so as to give room for investigation,” said PST president Emmanuel Mlundwa yesterday.
Early this week, Nyilawila went on record as saying he decided to vacate his WBF belt in order to fight Francis “SMG” Cheka in a non-title fight.

"It's a fight that I want more than a world bout. I love my title, but then again, I want to give the fans what they want to see," he said.

Had Nyilawila kept his belt, he would have been obligated to next face mandatory challenger Ermis Cagri in Germany on February 11.

When contacted for comment later yesterday, Mnazareth said the PST leadership had yet to officially notify him on the matter. (By Majuto Omary)
