Nairobi. Cricket Kenya yesterday promised high-level security for Ireland during a four-day Intercontinental Cup and two one-day internationals starting next week. The fixtures, which also include three Twenty-20 games will be played in the Indian Ocean town of Mombasa from February 12-24.

The tour was confirmed on Tuesday by Cricket Ireland who had earlier expressed concern over the security following a UK travel advisory on Kenya issued in January over a possible terror attack by the Al-Shabaab terrorist organisation of Somalia.

"We are happy that Ireland have accepted to come.Cricket Kenya and the International Cricket Council (ICC) have been engaged in organising a high-level security plan for the team during the two-week tour," said Cricket Kenya chief executive Tom Sears.

"Ireland is a very strong side and is currently the top one-day team and Kenya is privileged to be playing them at the start of the year," said Sears. After the Kenya tour Ireland will travel to South Africa for a two-week training camp ahead of the Twenty20 World Cup qualifying tournament in the UAE in March.
