Australian Simone McKinnis arrives in Dar es Salaam today ready to take over as Taifa Queens head coach. The hiring of the McKinnis has come following a promise made by President Jakaya Kikwete early this year. According to sources, the new coach has been offered a two-year deal and her salary would range from Sh5 million to Sh7.5 million per month. She will also be provided with accommodation and flight tickets throughout her stay plus a car. Chaneta official Rose Mkisi confirmed the arrival of the McKinnis saying she would land aboard Emirates. McKinnis, who served Taifa Queens for a short spell last year, was recommended by the netball body after tendering her credentials. After landing the deal, reports from Australia say that McKinnis immediately resigned from her position as Australian Institute of Sport (AIS) and Australian U-21 netball coach. The new coach will have a major task of making sure that the national team qualified for next year's World Cup in New Zealand. Taifa Queens will compete in the All Africa Championship set to get underway on Sunday and climax on September 12 in South Africa. |
