Fakih Haji Mbarouk The Citizen Correspondent Zanzibar. Zanzibar President Ali Mohamed Shein has challenged Zanzibar Revenue Board (ZRB) to embrace the use up to date technology in their operations. Dr Shein, who is also the chairman of Zanzibar Revolutionary Council, said that such technology would enhance efficiency and simplicity within the ZRB. He made the challenge in Mazizuni in Zanzibar when inaugurating the Sh8 billion ZRB’s headquarters, which also marked 48th anniversary celebration of Zanzibar’s Revolution. Dr Shein also pledged to assist ZRB in running its activities. “The ministry of Finance will closely work with ZRB to ensure that revenue collection is handled with utmost professionalism,” he noted. Dr Shein observed that there had been a revenue increment from Sh1.5 billion to Sh10 billion in past four years. He said it was worth noting the achievement, urging staff at ZRB not to look back, challenging them to exhibit professionalism and diligence in executing their duties. The President also challenged Zanzibaris to inculcate the habit of demanding receipts after every purchase, as that was the right of every customer. |
