Dar es Salaam. Six Coastal Union’s players, including their Kenyan import Edwin Mukenya, are missing at the team’s camp, it has been revealed. Coastal Union have been fine-tuning at Mkwakwani Stadium in Tanga for the past two or so weeks ahead of the second round of the Vodacom Premier League which kicks off Saturday. In an interview with The Citizen on Sunday, Kumwembe voiced concern over the failure by Mukenya and his colleagues to report at camp on time. He urged them to join their team-mates at camp immediately, warning that those who would defy the club’s instructions will be doing so at their own peril. Relegation-haunted Coastal Union, whose performance in the first round was far from impressive, are shaping up under close supervision of former national soccer team striker Juma Mgunda. The Tanga team will on January 25 face baptism of fire when they take on title favourites Simba at the National Stadium. (Majuto Omary) |
