Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania share spoils |

By Brown Msyani Top seed Duncan Mugabe from Uganda yesterday beat Tanzanian Omary Abdallah to claim Simba Open Tennis title in a thrilling final at the Dar es Salaam Gymkhana courts.
The Ugandan international had to use extra skills to post a narrow 2-1 win over the well-drilled Tanzanian stars. In the women’s discipline Shufaa Changawa beat Caroline Odour in all Kenya final at the same venue. The Tanzanian won the first set by 7-6 before Mugabe improving his game to post 6-1 in the second set. Mugabe completed his onslaught with 6-2 win in the final set.
Changawa, who was also defending her title, began her gallant march with 7-5 win before Odour responding with a 7-5 victory in the second set. Changawa finished off her opponent with a comfortable 6-3 win in the final set. Tanzanians Rehema Athumani and Hassan Kassim claimed the mixed double title after defeating Ismail Omary and Sara Bura by two straight sets at the same venue. The winners posted 6-3, 6-3 in both sets.
Jonas Jacob sealed Doubles title after beating Gilbert Kibeti and Duncan Mugabe in a thrilling match. Tanzanians posted 6-2 in the first set and went on to win the second set by a similar score. Simba Cement Company sponsored the three-day tournament.
