Dar es Salaam. Joseph Guede's solitary goal against Coastal Union at Azam Complex on April 27, 2024, widened Young Africans' (Yanga) lead to eight points over second-placed Azam FC in ongoing Mainland Tanzania Premier League.

Yanga now boast 62 points from 24 matches, while Azam FC trail with 54 points.

Additionally, Yanga have extended their lead over traditional rivals Simba to 16 points, with Simba accumulating 46 points from 21 matches.

Yanga needs only 12 points from their remaining six matches to secure the title for the third consecutive time.

The match saw Guede scores in the 76th minute with a powerful shot, capitalizing on a well-placed pass from Sheckhan Ibrahim.

This marked Guede's fourth goal in the Mainland Tanzania Premier League since joining the team during the mini-window registration period.

Although Yanga dominated the game from the start and created numerous scoring opportunities, their strikers, including Guede, failed to convert.

Yanga's head coach, Miguel Gamondi, praised his team for their victory, acknowledging the tough challenge presented by Coastal Union.

Conversely, Coastal Union's head coach, David Ouma, admitted to defensive mistakes that allowed Yanga to score the decisive goal.
