Government officers hone skills

Dar es Salaam. More than 50 senior government officials from the mainland and Zanzibar are attending a course on national security and strategic studies designed to enhance knowledge, skills and networks to members.

Dubbed the sixth capstone course carrying a theme: Patriotism, Pillar of the National Security, has brought together some permanent secretaries, district commissioners, chief executive officers and parliament officers.

The move is meant to  equip them with higher level of leadership and have common understanding on major challenges of national security and development.

Minister for  State in the Prime Minister’s Office ( Policy Parliamentary Affairs, Labour Employment Youth and the Disabled) Jenista Mhagama said continuation of such courses were essential to most government leaders especially those who did not go to the National Service .

She said there was  a need to come up with special courses for legislators to enable them with leadership skills.

“This would enable them to be patriotic and responsible to the government and to wananchi in general.” she said.

Ms Mhagama urged participants to establish similar courses in their respective organisations to help  reach many people in a short time

“Instead of waiting for the national defencee college to provide training for you, it is high time came up with such projects, which will involve a fewexperts from the defense college,” she said.
