Police nab four Mbeya suspects over murder

Mbeya. Four people are in detention for allegedly killing a 45-year old Mbeya resident, Hadson Mwangoka, and burying the body at his farm.

Mbeya Regional Police Commander Ulrich Matei told reporters yesterday that the deceased went missing since March 11 when he went to inspect his farm, which is located at Igadu Village.

However, he never came back home, prompting his relatives and village members to launch a thorough search.

“On March 13, his family doubted about his whereabouts and started looking for him. It wasn’t easy, but they finally his palm on the surface while his body was partially buried,” said the regional commander.

After seeing the palm, they alerted the police who came to the scene where they exhumed the body and discovered that the deceased was hit by a sharp object, which seemingly led to his death.

“So far, we are holding four people, but investigation into the death of Mwangoka is still going on until we nab all those involved in his death. The body is currently being preserved at the Mbeya Referral Hospital,” he said.

The RPC said three other deaths were also reported.

According to him, two children, who were identified as Cravery Mashaka, 5, and Gift Mashaka, 3, of Idimi Village in Mbeya District died after being swept away by floods a few metres before getting into their home.

The other death incident, according to the RPC, occurred at Itende Ward where Ezekiel Mwakapesa, who was suffering from epilepsy lost his life when swimming.
