DSE weekly turnover down 89pc

  • The Dar es Salaam Stock Exchange (DSE) equity market turnover weakened 89 per cent last week, with investors are currently reluctant to make quick decisions.

Dar es Salaam. The equity market turnover weakened by 89 per cent last week compared to the previous week.

The Zan Securities weekly market wrap-ups have indicated that DSE turnover decreased to Sh777 million last week, compared to Sh7 billion the week before.

Top trading equities last week were, Swala Oil & Gas Plc (SWALA) by 60 per cent of the market share (equivalent to Sh463.9 million) , followed by CRDB Bank Plc at 26 per cent (Sh198.8 million) and Tanzania Breweries Ltd (TBL) at 5 per cent.

Investors expect more counters to lose with decreased prices than counters which will gain their share prices.

“We expect losers to continue outweighing gainers in the coming week as investors will remain indecisive for fresh positioning” noted Zan Securities report as a week overlook.

DSE market capitalisation improved by 0.19 per cent to close at Sh19,903.73 billion and domestic market capitalization dropped by 0.32 per cent to close at Sh9,897.60 billion.
