Campaign launched to shape women’s attitude towards work challenges

Dar es Salaam. Oxfam, Action Aid and Tanzania Gender Networking Programme (TGNP) on Saturday May 4 launched a three year campaign that focuses on women labor, decent work and gender responsive public service.

The campaign intends to help women change attitude and how to approach work challenges.

Speaking during the launch of campaign, TGNP acting executive director Gemma Akilimani said women's labor has historically been relegated to second class status.

She said the gender division of labor under patriarchy has blocked women’s access to large parts of the labor market. “Large number of women have received training but for many years the changes is very little so we want them to change,”

For his part the Oxfam Country Director, Francis Odokorach said the campaign is globally that intend to help women get equal payment in jobs so that can continue bringing development.

Meanwhile activist Hilda Wasila said the government should empower women who are engaging in agriculture and link them with market, financial institutions.
