City commuters relieved of BRT hitches today

Dar es Salaam. Commuters using Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) have said BRT services have improved today.
However, they called on the authorities to ensure that the BRT services are improved significantly to meet the demands of the 5 million-people city.
The buses, which were meant to end traffic jams in the Tanzania’s biggest city, have not been delivering services well of late, leaving hundreds of people waiting at their stands.
Despite a crowd of commuters at Kimara’s BRT bus terminal, they said they said the busses, today, do not take long to come compared to the previous days.
"The commuters are many, but it does not take long before empty BRT buses arrive, so it is an improvement if you consider the situation in the past few days,” said Joseph Kisunga.
"I don’t know what was wrong with them, but today the service is okay. Yesterday, it was not easy to board a BRT bus here. It is imperative that they pull up their socks.”
Another user of BRT busses, Zaina Abdallah, has concurred with Kisunga, saying BRT services have significantly improved, but called upon the operators to improve their services to meet the demand.
