DC challenges technical colleges to bring positive results in communities in which they are located

Technical colleges challenged to tackle problems facing communities in which they operate, particularly ensuring that the training they offer help end the problem of lack of jobs.

Morogoro. Kilosa district commissioner Adam Mgoyi has advised managements of vocational training centresto offer services that will help communities tackle challenges that exist in their settings.

The district commissioner made the comments after viewing different activities being of students of the Veta Mikumi College found in the district.

MrMgoyichallenged the college to increase practical skills and as well make the students view technical training as an employment opportunity for them to earn incomes and improve their training skills and even after completing their studies.

The DC said he was surprised to see the colleges sitting on their skills without finding job contracts on social projects including those around them like the construction of health centres, dispensaries and classrooms.

He wanted the college leadership to cooperate with Kilosa District Council in preparing technical training studies for many students to employ themselves and create jobs upon completion of their training.

For his part, VetaMikumi College deputy principal Emmanuel Murosaid his college had been offering short and long term training courses that have proved to be useful in society.
