Longido. Longido District Commissioner Frank Mwaisumbe has ordered the arrest of the Director of Green Miles Safaris Ltd, Salim Abdalah Awadhi, for failing to pay Sh329 million as social corporate responsibility to villages surrounding his hunting block.

Speaking to leaders of the villages and wards surrounding the hunting block, Mwaisumbe said the government would no longer tolerate the investor for failing to pay the money for four years following the agreement between the latter and leadership of the villages.

The DC also explained that the investor had failed to control rustling incidents in his hunting block, in which he said within three months the carcasses of 16 giraffes were found.

"The value of one giraffe is estimated at Sh30 million. So, you could calculate how much money we have lost in 16 giraffes," said the DC.

He said it was learnt that the investor was not in good terms with the villagers and that the district administration would write an official letter to the ministry of Natural Resources and Tourism, requesting for the removal of the investor.

Earlier, councilors and chairpersons of the villages in which the investor has invested, gave a statement that requested the government to remove the investor sooner than later before he could create more problems with the villagers.

Both Mdarara Ward Councillor Alayce Moshau and that of Ketumbeini Ward Timotheo Laizer rejected the investor, who, they said, had failed to honor his contract.

However, when requested yesterday to answer to the accusations levelled against him via phone, the investor was not ready to comment as he only responded that the communication was not good in the area he was.
