Dar es Salaam. Christians have been reminded that death is not the end for human beings.

In his Easter homily at St Joseph’s Cathedral, Dar es Salaam Catholic Auxiliary Bishop Eusebius Nzigilwa has reminded worshippers that the crucifixion, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ over 2000 years ago brought liberation to the world and defeated death.

"Death and grave are not the end of life for a Christian. Jesus Christ said he was going to prepare a place so that we should be where he is at the end of it all.

"Therefore, since he resurrected and ascended to heaven, he defeated death. That’s why we celebrate his  resurrection.”

He called on Christians to increase their generosity to people in need.

"Easter should help us move away from old life of sin and start new life that pleases the resurrected Christ,” said Bishop Nzigilwa.

During the Easter Eve Mass at St Peter’s Parish, Bishop Nzigilwa called on Christians to stop being intimidated and instead value Jesus Christ’s resurrection.

"We are not supposed to live in fear; we should be aware of the value of resurrection and stop following earthly things.”

He insisted that since Jesus Christ overcame death, believers would do the same.
