Dar es Salaam. The government has said 78 per cent of road accidents are caused by human errors.

That was said on Monday, September 10, 2018, by Works, Transport and Communications deputy minister Elias Kwandikwa.

"Only 12 per cent of road accidents are attributed to poor infrastructure," he told Parliament.

He was responding to a question by MP Haron Pirmohamed (Mbarali – CCM) who wanted to know when the government would repair Mbeya roads to avoid accidents.

They include Mahongole-Kilambo, Igurusi-Utengule,  Chimala-Kapunga and Mlangalu-Ukwavila roads.

Mr Kwandikwa said Sh1.065 billion was in 2017/18 issued to repair roads and bridges in Mbarali. That was equivalent to 91 per cent of the budgeted funds.

Sh220 million has been set aside for repairing Mlangali-Uturo-Ukwavila and Chimala-Kapunga roads in 2018/19, according to him.
