Government to help Muslims repossess their assets

Dar es Salaam. President John Magufuli has assured Muslims that the government has started a process to ensure that all their assets, which were fraudulently acquired from Islamic institutions, are repossessed.

The President, who also donated Sh30 million to Tanzania Muslim Council, which would be used for religious activities, was speaking during the commemoration of Tanzania Muslim Council (Bakwata) 50th anniversary on Monday, December 17.

“I will make sure that all assets, which were illegally taken from Muslim Institutions are repossessed because I believe they are supposed to benefit the Muslims,” said the President.

The President revealed that Muslim associations lost most of their properties due to unscrupulous Muslim faithful.

Speaking about the Sh30 million donation President Magufuli said, “As a President I support Muslims although I am Christian because we are all serve the God and that’s why I requested King of Morocco to build us a mosque.”

The function was also attended by Vice President Samia Suluhu, Prime Minister Kassim Majaliwa among others.

He insisted on the need for the country to maintain harmony and peace regardless of religious affiliations.

The President also commended Bakwata for its support to provision of social services.

He noted that in the last 50 years of Bakwata, they have come up with 34 schools and higher education facilities, 24 health centers and hospitals among other projects.

Chief Sheikh thanked the President for initiating the construction of a national mosque which is located in Kinondoni district.
