Magufuli receives letter from Zimbabwe’s President Mnangagwa

President John Magufuli on Thursday, February 7 receives and holds talks with a special envoy to Zimbabwe Head of State Emmerson Mnangagwa, Mr Perrance Shiri.

During the meeting, Mr Shiri handed a letter to Dr Magufuli from Mr Mnangagwa who succeeded veteran politician Robert Mugabe.

 

Dar es Salaam. President John Magufuli on Thursday, February 7 held talks with Mr Perrance Shiri, a special envoy to Zimbabwe leader Emmerson Mnangagwa.

According to a State House statement issued on Thursday, February 7 and signed by the Director of Presidential Communications, Mr Gerson Msigwa, had it that the held talks in Dar es Salaam.

He said during the talks, Mr Shiri who serves as the cabinet minister for Lands, Agriculture, Water, Culture and Rural Resettlement, handed Dr Magufuli a letter from President Mnangagwa.

Speaking after the talks, Mr Shiri thanked Tanzania for its key role in the attainment of Zimbabwe’s independency in 1980, noting that Tanzania was a true home to every Zimbabwean.

“We are happy to be here. We really feel at home. Without Tanzania our independence attained in 1980 would have taken us even more years of struggle. But, we are thankful that our Tanzanian brothers and sisters who volunteered to join us in our struggle for independence,” he said.

In another development, President Magufuli met and held talks with acting European Union (EU) envoy to Tanzania, Mr Charles Stuart.

The envoy said during his meeting with President Magufuli, they discussed the long standing relations between Tanzania and the EU.

“Our relation has always remained strong, with areas of interest for both parties,” he said.
