Man charged over Pinda internet jibe

Dodoma. Producer Sospiter Jonas has been arraigned in a primary court in Dodoma Region charged with the misuse of the internet.

The suspect’s charge was read by the prosecution led by Musa before the court’s judge, Emmanuel Bwile.

The suspect is accused of posting a message into his Facebook account detailing that “Pinda will only become a gospel preacher.”

Prosecutor Mussa told the court that the accused posted the picture of John Maliga into his Facebook account with the message contrary to Section no. 16 of Cybercrime Offences Act of 2015.

The case will come up again for mention on Monday..

The accused was granted bail after meeting bail conditions that required him to have one surety and a Sh 1 mil bond.


Jonas’ case comes up hardly a week after a student at the Dar es Salaam Institute of Technology (DIT), Benedict Angelo Ngonyani, 24, was charged at the Kisutu Resident Magistrate’s Court Dar es Salam with spreading misleading information about the Chief of Defence Forces, Davis Mwamnyange.

Angelo is suspected of posting messages into his Facebook and Whatsapp accounts that Mwamnyange was hospitalized in Nairobi after eating poisoned food.
