Dar es Salaam. The executive chairman of Fastjet Airline Ltd (Tanzania), Mr Lawrence Masha, on Monday issued an apology to customers over cancellation of domestic and international flights.

Mr Masha, who once served as the minister for Home Affairs, apologised during an interview with the BBC Swahili, saying he understands their customers’ frustrations.

“I have decided to bring in two planes to provide services to my customers. I also want the public to understand that Fastjet Plc, which was the owner of Fastjet Tanzania, had no planes,” he disclosed.

Mr Masha said: “I have a tough task of ensuring that we have more planes, which will help bring the situation to normalcy.”

The statement of the majority shareholder of Fastjet comes just a day after the Tanzania Civil Aviation Authority (TCAA) issued a 28-day notice for the airline to settle regulatory and non-regulatory issues by January 14, 2019.
