Dar es Salaam. Sh412 million has been spent to facilitate the treatment of Singida East Member of Parliament Tundu Lissu who was shot by unknown assailants on September 7.

This was revealed by Chadema national chairman Freeman Mbowe on Tuesday 17, 2017, when briefing reporters on the progress of Mr Lissu, who is admitted at The Nairobi Hospital.

Mr Mbowe also pleaded with Tanzanians and other well-wishers across the country to continue donating money to facilitate Mr Lissu’s treatment.

According to Mr Mbowe, money for Mr Lissu’s treatment was raised by Tanzanians living in the country, those in the diaspora as well as Members of Parliament.

The Chadema national chairman revealed that Mr Lissu’s condition was improving as he had been released from the Intensive Care Unit, where he had been admitted. He added also that the Singida East legislator was no longer using machines for life support.

Mr Mbowe added that Mr Lissu had underwent 17 surgeries since he was admitted at The Nairobi Hospital.

“For the first time since he was attacked, Mr Lissu sat on his own on Saturday…he is now on a wheelchair and he is able to speak,” revealed Mr Mbowe.

The Chadema chairman revealed that the ailing MP will be airlifted abroad for further treatment anytime from today.
