Police arrest woman over burning of eight-year child

A suspect in the burning of a boy using a hot knife will be arraigned any time, law enforcers affirm

Rombo. Police are holding a 26-year-old woman on allegations of burning an eight-year-old child with a hot knife.

Kilimanjaro Regional Police Commander Hamis Issah told The Citizen on Saturday, February 16, 2019 that the woman, who resides at Mbomai Chini Village, Tarakea Division, is accused of having committed the offence on February 2, 2019.

"She is accused of burning a Tarakea Primary School Standard Two pupil at Mbomai Village at 9pm on his thighs when he was playing with his friends,” he said.

 “The wounds were discovered by his teachers when he was seen to be unable to walk well. The boy showed his teachers wounds he sustained from the attack. The boy was then taken to police station where the issue was reported. The suspect has been arrested and she will be arraigned any time from now.”

According to law enforcers, the child was treated at Tarakea Health Centre.
