Premier seeks explanation on obstruction of log exports

Prime Minister Kassim Majaliwa

Dar es Salaam. Prime Minister Kassim Majaliwa has directed Iringa regional commissioner Ally Hapi and officials to report to his Dodoma office on Monday morning for allegedly blocking exports of logs from Mufindi.

Along with Mr Hapi, others are executive directors from districts, which produce logs.

The meeting, will also be attended by the minister of State in President’s Office (Regional Administration and Local Government), Mr Selemani Jafo.

The minister for Energy, Dr Medard Kalemani, will also be there.

Mr Majaliwa issued the directive during a public rally at Nyoni Village in Mbinga District during his tour of Ruvuma Region, a statement by the Prime Minister’s Office indicates.

“It is very disappointing that it is happening at a time when we strive at electrifying all villages, but there are some government officials derail the efforts,” said warned.

“That’s why I have summoned the officials to tell me why they are doing that.”
