Arusha. The media fraternity was sent into sorrow following the death of one of its members in Arusha.
Charles ole Ngereza, a stringer with Germany’s DW in Tanzania’s northern regions, breathed his last in the early hours of Saturday, March 23, at Mount Meru Hospital.
He was rushed to the regional hospital shortly before noon on Friday after his condition deteriorated.
Family sources said the journalist had been suffering from a liver cancer.
His death comes three weeks after being brought home from India where he was flown for treatment early February this year.
Ngereza, who was in his late 40s, was one of the earliest correspondents of Nipashe and The Guardian in Arusha.
He served the IPP Media outlet until about a decade ago when he started reporting for DW and other platforms.
He attended a secondary school in Nairobi, Kenya, in the late 1980s and thereafter took several short courses in journalism.
